Hope Gala

HDSA-San Diego hosts its annual Celebration of Hope Gala every fall. The Gala is HDSA’s signature event, raising awareness and funds as it gives hope to the families suffering from this horrific disease.

Funds raised support the HDSA Center of Excellence for Family Services and Research at the University of California, San Diego, which provides services and care as well as clinical research in search of treatments and a cure.

While the Gala has remained consistent in its mission, each year’s event comes with a unique, exciting theme for our supporters

Each year the Gala honors San Diego community leaders, philanthropists, and distinguished individuals involved in the fight against HD:

2001 – Bob Breitbard, William Geppert, Dr. O.W. Jones, and Peter and Peggy Preuss.

2002 – Ron and Cheryl Kendrick, Jerry and Maggie Coleman, and Dr. Kurt Benirschke.

2003 – Dean and Susie Spanos, Charlene Berger, Dr. Jody Corey-Bloom, Marcellus Wiley.

2004 – Anthony R. Pico and the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, Dr. Terry Sejnowski, the Gagnon Family.

2005 – Lance Alworth.

2007 – Antonio Gates and the San Diego Chargers’ offensive linemen.

2008 – Bill and Ramona Johnston.

2009 – Don Coryell.

2010 – Antonio Gates and Dr. Leslie M. Thompson.

The event also features silent and live auctions with one of the best lineups of items in Southern California.
